Tum Bin revolves around three people: Adi (Akshay Khanna), Soniya (Preeti Zinta) and Kabir (Zakir Hussain). Adi is a fun-loving young man who dreams of becoming a rock star. He is willing to do anything to achieve his goal, including joining the army so that he can pay his way to England to study music. Soniya is the quintessential girl next door—beautiful, sweet and loyal. She tries to help Adi realize his dream of becoming a rockstar without coming too close to admitting her true feelings for him. Unable to bear the frustration, she leaves the village only to return years later as Kabir's wife. Her marriage with Kabir is not exactly what she had in mind but she doesn't have many options left. Kabir helps Adi get a chance to play in a band, but having gone through bad times before, Kabir is wary of Adi. Time passes and the three get on quite well. The question that remains is whether Adi can get real with Soniya. Tum Bin is a light yet engaging movie with an endearing story about true love conquering all obstacles and overcoming the odds of life's many ups and downs. Choreographer Bunty Walia announced his intention to make a Bollywood remake of the film in 2012. Shahid Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra were signed to star in the remake. The film's title was initially titled "Dil Ki Baatein", but later changed to "Kabir Singh".
